Not only does this book not teach you how to read faster, if you actually followed its ideas you would become a much slower reader. Suggestions in this book include analyzing each sentence to determine its function with respect to the concept expressed by the paragraph, challenging the author's meaning, and for each paragraph, writing down on a sheet of paper the topic sentence followed by each fact that supports it. Exercises include writing down four different ways of expressing the meaning of each given sentence.

If you want to learn to read faster, you will find almost nothing of use in this book. If you want to learn deep reading analysis and comprehension... you're probably still better off finding that elsewhere.

Speed Reading eBook John Kelley Reviews

Very nice book.!
I believe this is an excellent concise summary of the many speed reading theories out there. Anybody that is interested in apprehending information fast should master the skills mentioned in this book. The text refers to other sections quite a bit. I found them not very clear at times hence a 4 star rating.
Is just a book telling you how you can read a little faster, any way but helps in a way to read more faster and is a good book.
I start reading at an average rate of 200 wpm and within a week I start reading at a rate of 800 wpm with 80% comprehension.
Adam Konner's one-star review pretty much got it right. This is certainly far from the best book available on this subject, and a lot of the content of this book is not actually speed reading instruction but is geared toward reading books more analytically. If you're interested in that subject, I'd suggest Mortimer J. Adler's "How to Read a Book." If you want a good book that focuses solely on speed reading, I'd look elsewhere.
Speed Reading couldn't have found me at a better time! I'm currently reading all forms of texts to make money and I will implement the tricks and tools that the author has provided me further into my current job. The tests are simple to do and are easily explained so that way, us as the reader, can get the most out of this book. Great deal as well for only 99 cents! I will definitely recommend this to all my fellow readers!
Speed reading sounds controversial, but in fact, it is simple, once you know the basics. This is a power guide that will show you how to read faster and more accurate by implementing some elementary techniques that anyone can master in a short period of time. I am using the techniques in this book to save more time, and read more books, without losing focus. John writes in an easy to understand way, and tells you how to become a speed reading master in a short time. Thumbs up, and a big thank you to the author for making us read more books and text faster!
